× Coronavirus Update: Wed 18 March Having reviewed the latest Government advice we feel it is both necessary and sensible to suspend our train services during the remainder of March and April. We will be constantly be reviewing the situation and we will update you on when we will be re-opening. This also means regrettably the Spring Gala is also cancelled on the 28th and 29th March. This will be re-scheduled for the 10th and 11th October. This has been a hard decision for our volunteers who are keen to keep the railway running, but we are doing it for the safety of our volunteers and passengers. The Railway has been running for over 40 years and this virus won't stop us from running trains when we can again! Thanks to our passengers for their continued support.

We are open:

Can you volunteer?

Would you like to help?
We are looking for volunteers, to help with station duties, signalling and driving.

Established for over 40 years, we are a 71/4” Gauge independent Miniature Railway located in the Hertfordshire countryside. Located within the grounds of Van Hage Garden Centre in Great Amwell (near Ware, Hertfordshire, SG12 9RP), we are open to the public every weekend for complete family enjoyment.

During the school holidays we operate a special service on limited days. All our times and fares can be found here on our Calendar.

About Us

Our operation is run entirely by volunteer-based enthusiasts who give up their free time to run and maintain the railway. After defraying the cost of running the railway, we make regular donations to nominated charities and local organisations.

Both our independent railway and the Van Hage Garden Centre is a popular visitor destination for children and parents alike, where there are a variety of activities available. For more information on Van Hage’s facilities, please visit their website at http://www.vanhage.co.uk/garden-centres/great-amwell.

For further information on the railway, please browse around our site, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.
